This was the original cover untill I realized it was a tad static. And the title wasn't very interesting either (Short and funny is the best. Doesn't 'Another Dirt Sandwich' have a nicer ring to it?)
The only thing I didn't like about changing the cover, was that the following flip-book style gag was lost. This would have been page 2, and would have lined up with the cover like a flip book, only you can't flip it very well, what with the words and all.
The joke was a long one. I guess the odd numberd pages would have been blank. This was page 4.

Also, that chicken is Screeching Virginia, of Screeching Virginias Café fame. (she's in one of my earlier comic books, not this one, so I realized new readers wouldn't have known what to make of her.)
Here's one of the pages I deleted for the sake of space.

It was around page 34, and Cassowary wanted to write his family and let them know what had happened so far.

It interrupted the story flow, and wasn't very important. I'm sure I can use the concept of a telegraph station to my greater advantage later.
Also, the sign says "Western Conglomeration", instead of "Western Union". Get it? I don't think it's all that funny either.

As you can see, I didn't finish coloring it.
Here's a page from the script with some dialogue that didn't make it into the "Cassowary almost gets a new hat in the hat shop but then doesn't" scene' partly because I couldn't read my own handwriting.

Most of my script pages end up looking like this, so it's a wonder the books get written at all.
Here's a bit from the storyboarding stage. It's before Tbyrd tries out his hat scam on Cassowary. I prefer the version I wrote for the book where Tbyrd makes the scam up on the spot, As opposed to this version, where he's rehearsing it. Tbyrd's an impromptu kinda guy.
Here, Tbyrd and Cassowary are planning how to get the watch back from Badger, but don't know where to find him.

The third saloon is titled "The Conveniently Placed and Hilariously Titled Saloon."

This was the original ending point for the story boards, but then there'd have to be like, 40 blank pages in the book.

So I kept on ramblin'. And also went back in time and added the subplot about Cassowary's Mine.
